Surprisingly, President Donald Trump might be banned by Twitter! According to Vijaya Gadde, the law and policy Manager of Twitter, saying the social network could block the account of President Donald trump somehow in sometime. In an interview with Twitter's chief executive, Jack Dorsey, he said there was a limit to the waiver of Twitter's comments on political leaders.
In an interview with Politico, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and legal and policy chief Vijaya Gadde said it's still possible that Trump could be banned if he exhibits abusive and rule-breaking behavior, leaving the door open for future enforcement.
He said, the company allows content that is newsworthy but does not violate company rules, this policy that applies to everyone. A Twitter spokeswoman declined to give any additional comments on the report. Dorsey said he would receive a notification whenever the President tweets, but did not disclose what the President did would prevent his account from being blocked.
Trump's Twitter threats and taunts have repeatedly prompted calls for his removal from the platform, such as when he tweeted about Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani in July, "NEVER, EVER THREATEN THE UNITED STATES AGAIN OR YOU WILL SUFFER CONSEQUENCES THE LIKES OF WHICH FEW THROUGHOUT HISTORY HAVE EVER SUFFERED BEFORE.” In August, Trump, in tweets, called former White House staffer Omarosa Manigault Newman “wacky,” “deranged” and a “dog.“
Twitter has been reluctant to punish world leaders, or even some controversial figures, in the past. The company received criticism for those decisions, which only ramped up after The Wall Street Journal reported that Dorsey personally stepped in and prevented Alex Jones and white nationalist Richard Spencer from being suspended or banned. Both Twitter and Dorsey denied those accusations.
Dorsey is preparing for his upcoming testimonies before Congress on Wednesday, where he'll address both the interference in the 2016 election and the accusations of silencing conservative voices on Twitter.
