How to Fully Remove McAfee Endpoint Protection on Mac

Answer to 1st question: reboot your Mac into Safe Mode before the uninstall

Once installed, McAfee Endpoint Protection will launch automatically on the background every time you boot up your Mac, and it cannot be shut down by conventional means (including Activity Monitor or Force Quit Applications window).

Safe Mode is a troubleshooting option to isolate issues with your Mac as it prevents some software from automatically loading or opening. If you fail to deactivate some stubborn software, consider to uninstall it after booting your Mac into Safe Mode.

  • Start/restart your Mac, then immediately press and hold the Shift key
  • As Apple logo appear on the screen, release the Shift key, and log in to your Mac

Once your Mac enters into Safe Mode, you should be able to uninstall McAfee Endpoint Protection or other McAfee software fro the /Applications folder. And after the uninstall, you can reboot your Mac as normal, to exit out of Safe Mode.

Three ways to uninstall McAfee Endpoint Protection for Mac

There are multiple methods you can apply to remove McAfee Endpoint Protection.

Way 1. uninstall McAfee Endpoint Protection by trashing the app

  • Click Finder in Dock, and head to /Applications folder from Sidebar or Go menu
  • Locate McAfee Endpoint Protection, right click on it and choose Move to Trash

  • When prompted, enter your password and click OK button to allow the deletion

  • Click Trash icon in Dock to open it up, then right click on McAfee Endpoint Protection, choose Delete Immediately, and click Delete button in the pop-up window

Way 2. uninstall McAfee Endpoint Protection through the Terminal

  • Launch Terminal from the /Applications/Utilities folder in the Finder
  • Copy and paste the following uninstallation command in the Terminal:
    sudo /usr/local/McAfee/uninstall EPM
  • When prompted, type your admin password to execute the command

Way 3. uninstall McAfee Endpoint Protection using dedicated tool

  • Launch the dedicated tool after installing it and finishing the activation
  • Select McAfee Endpoint Protection and then click Run Analysis button

  • Click Complete Uninstall button, and then choose Yes to start the uninstall
  • When the uninstall completes, click Back to Interface button to re-scan Mac

If you apply the first two options to uninstall McAfee Endpoint Protection, you are advised to continue deleting McAfee Endpoint Protection components in the system folders, while the last option could save you the troubles of app leftover deletion.

Answer to 2rd question: detect McAfee-related files after the uninstall

After uninstalling McAfee Endpoint Protection and reboot your Mac into normal mode, you can conduct a detection to find if McAfee traces still remain on the system.

  • In an active Finder window, click Go from the Menu Bar, and choose Go to Folder
  • Type /Library in the box and hit Return key (or click Go button) to open it up
  • Click Search in upper right corner and type McAfee in the search box
  • Under the search bar, click Library, and trash any item pertaining to McAfee

You should be able to find out and delete many files and folder named after McAfee.

A customizable web dashboard is created and designed for users accessing from web browsers, which allows them to switch personal view between displaying full details on all features and just showing essential information in a streamlined view.

Besides, users can check their balances, monitor transactions, view budgets, expenditure trends, past expenses, as well as other information on their accounts.

Quicken Starter charges $34.99 per year, while Quicken Deluxe is available for $49.99 per year. Quicken Premiere, with portfolio monitoring functionality and tax advice, is priced at $74.99 per year. Quicken Home & Business is priced at $99.99.

Users who have paid for a membership can get access to Quicken 2019 at no additional cost. The newest version can be downloaded from the Quicken homepage.

The Mac version of Quicken 2019 requires macOS El Capitan (10.11) or later. If you want to perform a fresh installation, or you need to fix problems when using Quicken, you are suggested to uninstall the older version of Quicken on your Mac.
